Tre Immagini is a three-part piece for solo guitar that I composed especially for Łukasz Kuropaczewski on the occasion of his 40th birthday. My intention was to create music that offers this extraordinary musician and virtuoso another opportunity to showcase his exceptional musicality and craft to the audience.
I drew inspiration from two Venetian museums: the Gallerie dell’Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Each movement of the piece directly references the paintings that impressed me the most: Strage degli Innocenti by Sebastiano Mazzoni, Il grande bosco by Alessandro Magnasco and Francesco Peruzzini, and On the Beach by Pablo Picasso.
I also include in this booklet my miniature Fairytale, which I wrote for our joint album Adela with Łukasz Kuropaczewski. In the album, it serves as an epilogue, but it can also function as a standalone short piece.
By publishing the sheet music for Tre Immagini, I warmly invite all guitarists to explore my compositions. I would be immensely happy if you decided to include them in your repertoire. It was important for me that my new sheet music also be a beautiful object while continuing the graphic style initiated in 4 Toccatas. Therefore, I asked the talented artist Honorata Karapuda to create a design that references the one designed by Gaba Jordan for 4 Toccatas. Honorata also created her own drawn interpretations of the titular paintings, which wonderfully complement my sheet music.
